Week 2 SEO vs SEM

This week we talk about SEO (search engine optimization) vs SEM (search engine marketing). SEO is where the goal of the action is aimed to improve the website's search results. Meaning that SEO tries to optimize the results from greatest to least. An example could be, you go on google and search "What's the best thing to eat in the morning?" ideally the first thing you should see is an answer regarding breakfast meals, but on the other hand I'm sure everyone has googled something and they didn't get the answer they were looking for. That's when the use of SEO comes in to make sure that users are seeing the right results. And no search engine operator uses SEO better than Google. Another perk of SEO is that it is targeted at bringing and attracting web traffic and customers. Now, SEM is search engine marketing. A more specific type of search engine perk. SEM is used on paid website displays. SEM can contribute to ads through websites and searches, SEM has a bit of SEO and PPC elements, but really SEM's job is to go in there and collect ad revenue and traffic from the users. All in all, using SEM and SEO in your online business strategy can help a lot with traffic and revenue if it is done correctly.
